Wanted to like this place but the 20% surcharge to 'help pay our workers' left a bad after taste to a good meal because it doesn't count as tip. So 20% + tips on top. The food was good though. The place was clean and the service was good.
Delicious food and presentation in a very chic modern space. I visited with a group of friends and there was something for everyone. I ordered the crunchy rice salad (without cilantro) which was fantastic. Their Thai tea wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was good. Service was attentive although we had to ask to have our check split. Overall nice upscale dining spot with solid menu options.
We had a fun evening and a lovely meal at Laos in Town. It was only a few blocks from our hotel so it was very convenient. The service was enthusiastic but the waiter had few insights into the cuisine. He swore he had tried everything on the menu. My wife had a Laotian style whiskey made in the US. I had very tasty non-alcoholic lemongrass fizz. For starters we had mieng kana and chaophraya salad. Mieng kana is crispy shrimp on noodles on a leaf. Tasty. Chaophraya is green papaya salad with peanuts and chilies. It was the star of the evening. The main course was a bit of a disappointment. It was essentially a huge portion of fish curry. Khan poon pla. The menu warned it was spicey. It was both bland and served lukewarm. It was colder by the time the waiter returned with two small bowls and a serving spoon so we could share. We had them bring sri racha and pepper flakes, which made the dish edible. Id skip this if i were you. Maybe go with three starters. The sticky rice was very good. Pandan leaves made the rice green, which was interesting, and added a bit of vanilla, nutty taste. Final oddity. The bill included 20% gratuity and then had a space for me to include an additional gratuity. Never seen that before. My conclusions: If you want convenient Laotian fusion food served by enthusiastic millennials and cooked by Central Americans working for a concept restaurant chain with 6-7 restaurants, Laos in Town is fine. I suspect you can find better Laotian food in a strip mall the suburbs
A beautiful restaurant with a chill vibe. If you like Thai, you'll like Laotian food. I was torn between the Northern noodles and the Suki. Basically, chicken or seafood. The Suki was an inviting bowl of shrimp and fried calamari in a bed a rice and cabbage. Spicy and tasty. The service was good but a little aggressive turning the table for close.
I had a really enjoyable experience at Laos In Town! I've been to Laos a few times and can testify that their food is authentic. Our server, Mara, was especially helpful. She made great suggestions, including that I get the Laab Moo and the painted lady cocktail. Both were delicious!
Food was delicious and they have a great selection of cocktails. We sat on the patio and it was pleasantly shady and breezy even on a hot day. Our server Mara was the best! She was very attentive and friendly and gave us great menu recommendations.
I came for a drink after work and sat outside. Mara was a wonderful server, so sweet! Can't wait to come back!
I've been wanting to come here for a while thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I'll server PAK was awesome! Very knowledgeable. We took her suggestions and they were great. Thai tea was good! Tips 1) Try the purple tea thing 2) Calamari is really fresh and good 3) Ask for Pak 4) Parking may be a little tough so plan accordingly
We had such a nice dining experience at Laos in Town. We were seated outside in the garden-like area surrounded by trees, chirping birds and string lights. The service was helpful and pleasant. You have to view the menu on QR codes, which is always a bummer for us. We like a printed menu. We ordered the chive cake and crispy rice salad to start. These were delectable! The chive cake was savory and flavorful. The crispy rice had a nice hint of lime and a crunch to it. It was also a big portion! For mains, I had the Khao Poon Pla, which is a rice noodle dish with fish curry. Unfortunately, this was the low point of the meal. It was lacking flavor and had no spice or pizzazz. The blue snakehead fish was a white fish without any special flavor or texture either. My husband had the Suki dish which was a bed of glass noodles covered in seafood and veggies. This was insanely delicious and full of flavor. I would definitely recommend that dish! The desserts here were great! The mango sticky rice was a wonderful blend of creamy and sweet. The coconut cake was light and scrumptious. I would definitely come back here, but I would order a different dish! Also they do include tip in the bill, just an FYI.
